Therapeutic Body Doubling
at Rise Psychotherapy

Gentle support for when getting started feels harder than it should.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t knowing what needs to be done.
It’s opening the laptop. Starting the washing. Replying to the email. Beginning the assignment. Tackling the paperwork that’s been sitting there for weeks. If you’ve ever thought, “I know what I need to do… so why can’t I just do it?” you’re not alone.

Therapeutic Body Doubling is designed for people who find it difficult to start, stay with, or complete tasks because of executive functioning difficulties, overwhelm, anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, ADHD, autism, or other neurodivergent experiences.

Rather than judging yourself or trying to push through with more willpower, we work together to understand what your brain needs and create a calm, supportive environment where getting started feels possible.

What is Therapeutic Body Doubling?

Body doubling is a simple but powerful technique where another person works alongside you while you complete a task. For many people, simply having someone present makes it easier to begin, stay focused, and follow through. My approach goes a step further.

Alongside practical support, I bring my experience as an integrative psychotherapist. As we work together, we can gently explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be making certain tasks feel overwhelming.
Sometimes the goal is simply to get something done.

Sometimes it’s understanding why that task felt impossible in the first place.
Both are valuable.
